You know, if Mibba is going to deter you from being published, why not just join another website more geared toward serious writing and publishing? I used to be on WEbook, it actually has a feature that helps you find an agent. Plus, a publisher isn't going to take you less seriously for writing on websites, but why you'd mention it is beyond me. They aren't impressed because you can post stories for free on a website. Even online publishers don't care.

I think I relate to all of those four points except for the fourth one Coffee
I'm pretty sure if I was a psychomaniac Japanese girl, I would not be on here.
I'd be hunting dicks during the night and cutting them off then carrying them around in my purse for three days File

I agree with this, haha. Though I don't like to talk about it anymore I actually deal with depression a lot, and I've been diagnosed--legit diagnosed I took tests and everything, and even saw a psychiatrist for a bit--with Schizoaffective. I honestly have to say that it's like bipolar but with more psychotic tendencies. But that's just my opinion.

Kudos to the blog though, because it honestly hits home. Don't doubt that.

I can understand your stand completely. Although, speaking for myself, I haven't been diagnosed with any sort of disorder. I have had a tough life, and maybe that has inspired me to do what I do. I just like to think I have a creative mind and love to get feedback. I want to write a book--preferably towards one that can somehow get others to understand the severity of one specific mental disorder--which would be bipolar disorder. I have dealt with it because of my family, and would like to use my experience with it to inform others about this specific disorder.

Now, do I like to fantasize? I sure as hell do, just like many of the other users. We have creative minds, why not put them together to form some fantastic creative writing. Now this may seem weird, but isn't that how E.L. James started off? With her silly, over the top Twlight-porn fanfic? Why can't we all start here, you know? More importantly, why not somewhere where we know we're accepted, and understood? You bring up valid observations, and I agree to a point. But not all writers have some condition, or whatnot. I also know there are a few male authors, but I just think that falls into the stereotype category itself. Is it something a guy normally does? I mean, there's a whole lore more behind too.

    Great discussion, though!

Sweet Jesus, you read my mind. This godforsaken site is best known for terrible bandfics; always has been, and there is a shocking amount of mental disorders scattered around here. Bravo. Good luck with the rabid teenage girls.

I understand your concerns and I suppose some of us fit those stereotypes too but if publishers and other folk want to be close minded and judge EACH author on a site automatically as a whole with everyone else and place them into some bias category then honestly I wouldn't want my work published by a company like that to start with. I know that it does make it tough for your personal work to shine when it's in the mix with everyone else's but the way I feel about it is....at least people are writing in general. They could be out there doing a lot worse of things.

I actually have had friends irl ask me why I'm on mibba, and more on the typical stereotype of mentally unstable teen girls as writers.

I was making reference to the fact that the majority of the site is fan fiction xD Sorry for any misunderstandings.

(It'd be kinda contradictory to say that that's the whole site b/c I write OF mainly)
Nooo, it's fine, I'm not trying to hate. Just making my point. c:

I know! None of the negative stuff is my specific point of view, Mibba is great and I have no issue with fan fiction or anything like that or expressing/relating yourself to your writing, but it's just what I assume people will think.

Well, I wouldn't say we're a messed up community. And I don't think there's anything wrong with what is talked or written about on Mibba. I don't think anyone would view us as a "bunch of crazies." We're all human, we have feelings, thoughts and desires. There's nothing wrong with "teenage girls writing about grown famous men having sex with each other, scene girls self-diagnosing depression and 'coping' with it through angsty poetry, a bunch of sexually-confused teens, and a lot of people discussing suicide."

Besides, I thought it was best not to mention online writing if you're looking to get published? I read it a year or two again in some article I think. I'm not really sure.

I'm not arguing lmfao I think you have some good points that probably have been lurking in the back of most of our minds. But this is Mibba. It's home to many of us. If we can't be honest on here about who we are and what we like and want, where can we be? I mean I understand where you are coming from. You want to become an author. More power to you. But some of us don't even write or read on here, we only blog/lurk forums/message people. Mibba is a writing site, but it's also sort of a therapeutic community at times.

    Not everyone.

I personally do not write about my life, because there's no reason. It's the same life everyone else lives. It's high school, boys, girls, class, technology, wants, needs, & talents. It's all fun & games & food & yelling. I write stories about mad scientists, astronauts, time travellers, computer programmers, & random other people in the science fiction genre, with original plots & proper grammar & dialogue.

Not trying to flame here, just get that not everyone is a stereotype manifest. :)
