    Same with me. I've been writing online since I was 13 and I still can't write hardcore smut. I try to keep it tasteful because I feel like a lot of graphic smut takes away from a story instead of adding to it.

    I think it comes with age (not saying you will change your view on it, just putting it out there). When I was 14 (15, 16), I would cringe even thinking about writing smut, but as I got older, it came more... naturally? Obviously this doesn't apply to everyone, but that's my own personal experience. I feel sex is a great way for me to develop my story, especially in one-shots, as I often use it as a device for first meetings/how the partners in a relationship view each other/as a plot device on it's own (I have a story where the character is a porn star, sooo). /shrugs

    Hahaha! Yes, totally agree. I don't read smut, therefore I find no meaning to write it.

    @ wonderyear?
    Exactly. I feel like, if you're going to write sex and porn in your stories, know what it is you're writing about and be realistic with it.

    @ Xia;
    That's pretty much how I see it. I'm not uncomfortable with it in the least. I just don't want my story to be something that people "fap" to when they have nothing better to do.

    I so can relate to this. If I involve sex with my characters, I just...briefly make sure that its clear that's what they're doing and then carry on. Its not that I'm uncomfortable with it, its just not the type of thing I want to write. I don't feel like I need to have a graphic sex scene to show how my characters feel for one another, but that's just my opinion. Plus, I have characters that are in relationships and never have sex(but I also have plenty that do) because to be truthful, love without sex does happen, so why not write about that too?

    A few years ago I tried to write smut for a slash fic and it was so dumb because I had no idea how gay sex or even real sex even worked for that matter and I think that that's the problem with a lot of the nc-17 stories on here. I think I've read a few stories on here with some great sex scenes but only because they were so realistic to where it was almost funny or where it was brief and let your imagination wonder around all of the icky stuff lol. But yeah a lot of it is just written porn.

    I think that sex is normal and a part of life so it'd be weird to write about teenagers or older people falling in love without them exploring the sexual side of their feelings as well. I suck at smut scenes though so I try my best to stay away. I'm currently writing about 14 year old love so it'd be kind weird if they had sex in my opinion. (though I know lots of 14 year olds engage in sex these days) it just seems way too young for me. I'd feel like a predator trying to write a sex scene for them Very Happy

    I feel uncomfortable writing sex in stories. Probably because I don't like it so, hey, why should my characters.
    I like glazing over it. Like it happened, but use your imagination haha

    I've been writing it since I was nine. I write romance and erotic romance so sex is unavoidable. I just can't stand romance without sex. All that build-up for chaste kisses and a wedding? I'll take two hot guys living in sin and doing it on the kitchen counter.
