If you read it, the author of the blog is generalizing the entire community. Not just a few select people.

"We get the Internet. You get the Internet and everything else. If you're desperate for feedback, why not try a site without FF? They DO exist and you wouldn't have to complain there."

This is what I mean^. There's so many arguments about how people should read more OF or read more of this kind of story or that kind of story. And then there's people talking about what people should write in stories or shouldn't write in stories. But at the end of the day, they're all still claiming that everyone can read and write whatever the fuck they want. That's clearly not true.

But the poster if this blog isn't claiming that the entire community does it.

What is that supposed to mean?

Well then those OF writers have some serious issues to work out. I don't think the entire OF author community should be pounded for it, though. A majority of them aren't like that and it sucks to be stereotyped.

You people all talk about the "freedom to read and write what you want" but I feel like no one actually understands what that means.

It's one thing for OF writers to be upset about the lack of feedback, and it really sucks, but the thing is that some (not the majority, but there's quite a number of users who do this) downright blame FF writers for this issue and openly wish we would go away. And I'll be honest, it can be pretty upsetting and unwelcoming for a FF writer to see stuff like that.

First off, I'd like you to take it easy. If you rage like this, your blood pressure will go up. You can get you point across without being so angry.

Secondly, I'd like to add that the issue here isn't that there isn't enough OF in the world, but that OF stories on this particular website don't get as much feedback and attention as FF. That's what upsets the authors.

In this blog, you make OF writers sound like spoiled little shits, which is just one step over the line if you ask me.

    I agreed wholeheartedly.
As long as people are expressing creativity, who cares if it's original or fanfiction.

This whole fanfic vs original has to stop.
Mibba accepts both and its for both.
Get over it! That's what I have o say with everyone that's on the OF vs FF debate.

There's no need to snap at original fiction writers as a whole, you know.
Not all of us complain about excess fan fiction. It's rude to say we're all whiners and overprivileged.

There's a lot of people though who are pretty high headed about OF being better too. I see those kinds of comments much more than those about fan fiction.

@ zaphod beeblebrox That's preference though. As I've said before, people are only going to read what they want to, and contests reflect that. I don't think Mibba will shift like that though. Other sites that harbor both still have far more FF. Such as AFF for example, which allows both. And like I said in another blog, of course band fiction is huge here. The bands on here that are popular, excluding A7X and MCR, didn't have a home before now. Now they do. That's why there's so much of it. I don't think FF is better, I think both are equal, but I've found very little OF on here that's really caught my attention or made me want to keep reading minus your one story Psithurisma. Most of it is just as predictable as band fiction without the band guys to draw me in and make me care.

My problem, honestly, isn't that there's a lot of FF on here and not enough OF. Though yes, I'd like to see more OF, I'm more discomforted with this atmosphere on the site that FF > OF, with everyone going around "band fiction only," and all of the contests being fan fiction and stuff. Yes, the site began as a fan fiction one, but that doesn't mean fan fiction should - or will - remain the majority. Take the colonization of the americas for example: it began as a land for the native americans, but the europeans came in and took over. Now, I'm not saying that OF are going to genocide the FF writers, I'm just saying that it's possible the site can turn over to majority OF like the americas went from N > E to N < E.

this probably was very confusing lol sorry
