@ caves of steel. he did also kill a bunch of people with bombs, but I don't know anyone who even cared about that until he died (he obviously did it for an end to violence against blacks, so I don't really understand the whole uproar tbh). He was the one who implemented the TRC which was supposed to be a way for ALL South Africans to come forward about crimes during apartheid, but it kinda backfired (not his fault, people thought they'd get money out of it. It was supposed to be for forgiveness.)
yeah i had 0 idea who Paul even was. I saw a facebook post and had to google him. I mean, it sucks that both of them died. And Mandela did great, great things, but i'm not concerned with either of their deaths. It's sad, but it's out of my reach and does not effect me as of now.
In response to an earlier comment, Mandela wasn't a criminal. The apartheid government criminalized him; he went to jail for being against apartheid, an oppressive system of segregation in South Africa. While he was planning to use violence, but no government's hands are completely clean and, quite frankly, nonviolence doesn't always (read: usually; tbh sometimes I feel like it's glorified by imperialists who want to silence minorities) work.
I didn't know who Paul Walker was tbh. Everyone I knew was like "OMG WHY" and I had to look him up. Whereas I knew Mandela and I know about how horrible apartheid is and I was devastated. But the fact a lot of Americans aren't showing respect for him is terrible and I've seen it firsthand.
From what i've seen they are both getting amazing respect. What people forget is that Nelson Mandela (although a wonderful man) was also a criminal at one point, and did horrible thing's aswell, whilst trying to stop other horrible things, he wasn't always an angel. In saying that; I loved him, he was amazing and he changed his life around. About Paul Walker; It personally devastated me, because I'm a mechanic and got into cars by watching him on the big screen. He was also wonderful because he had many charities, including the Reach Out charity, of which he was at a function the day he died. I think both of them deserve more credit than they are given. Just because someone's an actor, doesnt make them any less important than a criminal turned activist. In his own way, Paul liberated people aswell. Point is; Who gives a fuck who people mourn, they should both be mourned with the same amount of respect imo. Not trying to be mean, I'm just sick of hearing people say that Paul Walker did nothing and Mandela was a saint -.-
