I agree that it depends on the kid and what he did wrong. If they did something that they could be arrested for doing if thye were older, I would definitely want them to feel what it's like without the real consequences before they get themselves arrested for real and have to deal with it the rest of their lives.

I think all of this falls within the category of parents lying to their children. Personally, I believe lying is totally, completely, and utterly unacceptable, I don't care who you're lying to or why you're doing it, lying is wrong. Especially if it is your child. I don't care if it's something as horrible as this or as small as explicitly saying Santa exists, lying is one of the worst things you can do to a child. There's reasons I dislike my own parents, it makes me really sad to see children who are going to grow up to be the same way. There's better ways to discipline your child than pretending to arrest them. It just seems like emotional abuse to me for the parent to be doing this.

that is true, I see your point. I see it all the time where I'm from, and I'm sure its world wide. I just really wonder what that kid did to deserve that. Maybe it opened his eyes? Hopefully it did, especially with how upset he was.

I just really wish it explained what exactly that child did to deserve something like that. But, I see your point and agree. Kids these days are killing people, getting into drugs and drinking, sex, etc. It's a crazy world.

In my opinion, really depends on what the kid did. Eleven isn't too young to steal something, vandalize something, or get involved with drinking or drugs. Unfortunately, younger and younger kids are getting involved in things like that. Considering they take teenagers to prisons to set them straight, maybe this wasn't extreme. Depending on what he did. He might have gone above and beyond being rude.
