You all make very good statements(:
And the Disney label honestly never sticks on any celebrity.
Demi Lovato isn't the innocent girl she used to be.
    Selena Gomez isn't.
    etc. etc.
I just feel like there is talent... and then there is way too raunchy.
Lorde is very talented, but doesn't pass herself off to the music industry as a raunchy young girl.
I'm not sure if I sound like a douche for saying that, but it's just my opinion.
I wish Miley wasn't so raunchy because she can write amazing songs.

Feel like I'm such a creeper for watching this blog post but I definitely agree with what you're saying!

  • Honestly, Miley is a talented person. Whether someone likes her music or not, it's not really accurate to say or imply that she doesn't have talent. She's got an amazing voice and she can definitely sing, so she has talent. I'm quite impressed by her voice.

Miley seems like she's desperately trying to break away from the 'Disney good girl' image people have set for her. Whether people like it or not, Miley is not a kid anymore and she's not a Disney star anymore. We cannot hold Disney standards for her any longer. She doesn't have a company breathing down her neck 24/7. I love Disney but let's face it, they give their artists impossible standards, it's why no one stays with them for more than a few years.

People are trying to keep sticking this Disney label on Miley and expecting her to be squeaky clean but she can be. She's a young 20 year old woman who is obviously trying to find her place in this world. Perhaps she's going about it in the wrong way but I think Miley will find herself at some point. And if this raunchy girl is who she is then so be it. Nothing wrong with being sexual. People can just not watch her videos/performances if they don't like it, you know?

The way I see it is that if someone doesn't like what Miley is doing, they don't have to look. It's easy enough to change the channel when she comes on or something. I think people just need to chill and leave Miley alone.

  • I think she's had to grow up pretty fast, having been famous from day one of her life and this is her attempt at breaking away from the bonds of being a Disney child star and coming into her own as an adult.
What is "art", really, besides a form of expression? I don't think it's a stretch to call Miley an artist as it's appropriate to call all forms of musicians artists, their music serves as their therapy and their point of expression and hers does just that.
While she is a bit raunchy, I think it's up to parents to have the upper hand in guiding their children and informing them that Miley's behaviour is appropriate for her age and shouldn't be repeated by them.
I respect Miley Cyrus as an independent woman and also as a fellow singer, nobody can deny that her voice is lovely :)

  • I loooooove her!!! She's so brave and though I don't think she needs to expose herself all sexually now, I think in a way she's a good role model. She's confident in her own skin. She's happy. Many girls and women suffer from body image issues. Miley gets hate daily and I'm pretty sure many people have told her she doesn't have the booty to twerk. But does that stop her? Nope. She gets backlash now for being skinny too. She's not delusional about her body parts. She accepts the facts and twerks on! Lol but seriously, she shows women out there that they don't need to strive for perfection or fit a certain mould. You just need to accept yourself and love what you do. Do yo thang.

But I wouldn't mind if she covers up a bit more. ^^ just my opinion.
