You can make out in a PG-13 scene, provided there is no explicit discussion of groping. ^_^

(There are definitely ways to write an R or even an NC-17 makeout sesh for sure, but you'd know, I feel. XD)

Ahh well that pretty much sums it up! Make out = PG-13, sex = R.
It was just a bit confusing for me to read R-rated stories that still haven't had the elements that made it rated that way yet.

But thanks for clearing that up for me! Really appreciate itCute

I put everything of mine as NC-17 or R, just to be sure tehe but it's honestly up to you, and what you think your content is more likely to suit - but I understand your problem. With make out scenes - I'd expect a PG-13 rating, if it went a little further, R, and then NC-17 if it was the whole shabang

PG-13 is for the making out. R is for the sex. Just not the graphic sex.

I have some small makeout scenes in my stories and they're all rated PG-13.
To classify as a sex scene I think it actually means sex, not just a kissing scene. You know?

I also go on the basis of would I let my younger sister - aged 12 - read this? when tossing up between R and PG-13. If I would, PG-13. If I wouldn't, R.

I hope that somewhat helps. If not, maybe contacting a story editor would be best.
