I think if a break is what you need then go for it! Just remember to stay motivated and don't back out when you're ready to go back to school. A problem that a lot of people who take a gap year have is they end up holding back from going to school more and more once they have tasted freedom. But I think if you set a date, like a week, before your gap year ends to get ready for school, register, and mentally prepare yourself for it you will be just fine.
Either way, it's up to you.
Personally, I would just get college over with then and now. But that's me. If you feel like you need that break, then take a year off.
