@ valar morghulis You definitely should. You shouldn't be punished when you hadn't even heard of this story prior to writing yours, besides, I'm sure a ton of stories have similar summaries. No worse than reusing a movie plot a million times. :)
@ DarkestStorm It does! I might try to work it and change it up a bit so they're not as similar, I guess it's worth a shot. If not, I'm sure I can come up with something else to write about, haha.
@ Join the Masquerade I hadn't thought to try that. I'll give it a shot.
And you are right, but I could see why some people would think "well she copied the other person's summary!" because our summaries were similar. I will give that a try, though. Maybe I'll have some luck, thanks for the suggestion! (:
Ahh... that's tricky then. You could try searching the story on Google to see if it's posted elsewhere and they're active on another site to contact them?
I've never had my work stolen but I know I wouldn't be annoyed if someone had a similar story to me. I would only be annoyed if it was copied word for word, or if they'd changed the wording around but in each chapter, the exact same things happen. If your story is going in a different direction then it's not the same story :)
@ Join the Masquerade I would, but the other person's account isn't active. /: I want to, yes, but I would feel..."judged" (not the best word to use in this context) over it. Like I've said before, I've had my work stolen and I wouldn't want to be accused of stealing someone else's work. I was tempted to message an admin or story editor, but I think I'll just leave it be. I'm just glad someone brought it to my attention before I was accused of anything.
@ HerHarlequinGirl The chapters weren't, by far. The other author was going in a totally different direction than what I was, from the chapter I read of their story. But still, I know what it's like to be plagiarized and I would hate to be accused of plagiarizing someone else's work. Our summaries were similar, which sucks, because it was unintentional, but I'm glad someone brought it to my attention before I was accused of stealing their work.
Damn...I was excited to see that story too! It was actually the first story I have seen with that kind of content and all that! :(! Did you check the chapters, maybe it wasn't the same?
@ xSweet.Afterlifex The person who told me did link the story. The story hasn't been updated for almost a year now, but our summaries (short and long) were similar, so I could see why someone would think "she's stealing someone else's story!", even though it wasn't done on purpose.
Thank you though! I'm just bummed, is all. I was really looking forward to it.
