I was on the same birth control for a year and also didn't have any bad side effects. My biggest one was the hormone flux as my body was getting used to it. WAY emotional for about three weeks and I too.was a bit nauteous but only for a few hours after taking my pill.

Honestly, BC is a great cure for heavy, painful periods.

One of my best friends was completely miserable while on birth control and she's convincing me it'll be the same way and I hope she's wrong. And I know I wasn't happy the doctor kind of assumed I wanted birth control but I agree I should at least give it a try. I'm just freaked out my dad will find out and skin me alive :|

I've been on Tri-Sprintec for about a year now and it hasn't negatively affected me. It does exactly what it's supposed to, so I have no complaints. I haven't gained weight or had any blood clots or anything detrimental. The only problem for me was in the beginning when my body was getting used to it, I felt really nauseous all the time, though I solved that problem by having a snack every time I took my pill.

I don't think much has changed with my period, I mean it was never that bad in the first place so I suppose I'm lucky there. But dude it's so not okay that your doctor just assumed you wanted the pill. Definitely don't do anything you don't want to do!

Thanks! My appointment wasn't even originally to get birth control, but I guess I ended up with it, haha. My periods are really bad, so I'm hoping it helps!

I personally have been considering going on birth control for my periods. It seems like a simpler option for myself because I don't plan on reproducing as it is. The side effects are a bit scary, however. Which is why I have yet to implement actually seeing my doctor about it. Hope all goes well with you though!
