I'm not one who approves of spanking, but I sort of can understand why some parents would resort to it. With that being said, whether it is alright or not for a parent to spank their child altogether, I don't think anyone should ever, and I do mean EVER, lay a finger on a child that isn't theirs. As you said, leave the parenting to the actual parents or guardians.

Yeah they did, not a lot of them enforced it much, but some teachers would do that and I seriously believe it was because they were bored and wanted control of a student.

My gosh!! I knew this one teacher in High School and when he would get really mad, he would throw chairs and raise his voice. It would get really scary at times.

They've stopped that over here but when I was 11 years old in school, we had a substitute teacher and he was trying to scare us about high school. One day he asked a question and I got it wrong and he slapped me across my fingers with a long ruler. He also threw whiteboard eraser at quite a few people in the class too. He got the sack, though, which was good.

I honestly didn't know that teachers still did that. I have never hear of a teacher using that kind of punishment on a student except the times when my grandfather was in school. Maybe I was lucky and didn't have to face my teacher paddling me or whatnot.
