Cringing at Your Old Stories | Please Convince Me to Be Productive + Questions! - Comments

  • If you still like the idea behind the story, you could always rewrite it and make it something you'll feel is worthwhile. If it's something you still want to work with.

    1. All the time. I cringe even worse with my old poetry.
    2. I only write poetry and one shots, so that hasn't been an issue for me.
    3. BE PRODUCTIVE. THE ONLY WAY TO IMPROVE YOUR WRITING IS TO WRITE. GO LOOK UP SOME NEIL GAIMAN QUOTES ABOUT WRITING AND THEN SIT DOWN AT YOUR NOTEBOOK OR KEYBOARD AND KICK SOME LITERARY ASS. I BELIEVE IN YOU.

  • As a reader of Homophobe, I can't yell at you to finish a story you aren't feeling. I was having this same problem still am, but shh, I didn't say anything. I think that when you feel something, you feel it. And when you don't, you know, you don't. I know that it's strange to think of no ending to the story that you've gotten so attached to your characters and you had so much planned (or not, if we're similar) and so much written, but sometimes, you just can't. I get that. Yeah, it's nice to think about having stories all planned out and perfect, but it's okay not to. I don't hate you for not being motivated with it.

    In answer to your lovely questions;
    1) I look back at my actual published novel and cringe because I just... ugh!. It's not what it could have been.
    2) I have a lot of one shots, some sequels to others; a few two-shots; maybe some other stuff too, I don't know.
    3) I lost my "outside" voice today, so this is just a friendly reminder that I love Homophobe and maybe you don't have to have too many more chapters to wrap it all up.

  • TOO RIGHT YOU ARE! Kicking
You can do it! Even if you don't, I'm sure Teen Wolf will be very productive for your creativity. Shifty

Until recently (I'm talking like until that big site crash we had) I NEVER saved my things anywhere other than on Mibba because I did not want anyone I knew to read my bad stuff and I didn't trust my mum to refrain from snooping around on my laptop and reading the stuff. I guess I learnt the hard way when I deleted things in a fit of insanity. Facepalm

It was a very long year packed with me procrastinating. XD Yes, I am currently attempting to write more things but I'm better at procrastinating . Like award-worthy, y'know. Coffee

    I AM A WRITER GODDAMNIT.
I have like 400 words... I need to get to at least 1000 before Teen Wolf... I can do it... I think... OMG NO!

And oh god, I never delete things just because I'm basically a hoarder, so I still have stories on my old old computer from like 2008 and we're talking the epitome of bad writing. Mary Sue/Arranged Marriages/Childhood Friends/Enemies to Lovers/Hot Guys Everywhere you name all the cliches and my stories had all of them. Twitch

You've beat me by a year! And aw, well I guess you just have to write more awesome things to replace them? Cute

  • 1. Many times. The other week, I was looking back over things I posted back in 2009/10 and cringed so much that I deleted them without saving. It's safe to say that I regretted it after five minutes. Facepalm

    2. Oh, I don't know. Maybe 10? Less than ten? I mostly do one shots or short stories, but I have finished long stories while others just remain rotting until I can be bothered to finish them. lmfao Oh, two years. I took two years to update this one story, because before I updated it I re-read it, decided it was terrible, and started to re-write the previous chapters which took a long time because I'm lazy, and finally managed to finish it without like three months of starting again. I deleted it a while after, though. Without saving it. Again. Facepalm

    3. WRITE DAMMIT, YOU HAVE TO WRITE TO ALLOW YOURSELF TO BREATHE. ARE YOU A WRITER OR A WRITER?!?
