And sadly I was made to introduce myself in front of everyone and then ask for syllabuses for each class

Congrats on the job! :3 At least your workload won't be intense - that would make it hard for Uni, trust me.

At least you missed all the awkward introductions! "Hello, class, I'm [insert professor name here]. Let's go around and introduce ourselves with our names and majors, then I'll pass around the syllabuses." They're so energetic about it, too! At least, mine were, but I'm not going back until Spring. xD

When you do go, though, make sure you get those syllabuses because they'll generally have your assignments for the year (which will occasionally be altered according to the professor's preferences).
