    Can I take you up on that offer as well? My co-write 'Underestimate me.' can use some feedback.

    See, my problem is that I have a mere handful of friends that understand what I like to write and they don't always have time because we are all in school and they like to live their own lives. A couple of them have their own stories to focus on. That's why I post in these sites, in a shred of hope to get some clear feedback. I find that posting blogs seeking people who like to give opinions and critiques actually does help a bit. Not necessarily promoting stories, just seeking help.

    I understand. I find that my best feedback comes from my friends really. They even told me that my writing has improved since I started some years back.

    I think it's easier getting feedback from those who know you than on sites because there are a lot of stories and people now and days on this site just seem to have way too many requirements on what kind of story they want to comment on.

    It really sucks so i just don't bother promoting my story unless I posted a chapter or come up with an idea for something.

    I agree. Comments are the hardest thing to get from readers. I'm not necessarily thinking of being a writer as a profession. It's more of a hobby but if I'm gonna spend time on it I want it to be good ya know?

    @ Moon Lady Hina
    I know what you mean. And I agree with just about everything you said. And since I've just started with two new stories and they have (between the 2 of them) about four chapters, I'm completely content with the comments praising the story. Only later on, if I get comments saying how amazing and unexpected an event is in the story, I count that as good criticism. It tells me that my readers like to be surprised and kept on their toes. Just sometimes that's hard to do. Ya know? I think that's my main problem with writing; keeping stuff interesting.

    Honestly i feel like websites are the last place to ask for feedback. I personally feel like people have a better chance of actual feedback one on one with a person in real life. It just seems to me that getting feedback online is like pulling out teeth.

    And I feel like since the major age group is teenage, feedback is going to be few and rare. It just seems easier to say oh I love your story post another chapter than say well I feel you could have done this and that and over in that paragraph there's a typo.

    That's just me though. Writing sites are not the place to get feedback if a career in writing is what one is really aiming for.

    Every time I ask this question about why there's a lack of feedback, people come up with one of the following;
    a: Sometimes people don't know what to say about a chapter or are too awestruck. (I only accept this excuse when the story's a few chapters (2-3) in but not when there's 5+ chapters when plenty or something has happened already).
    b: It's easier to recommend and subscribe then to leave a comment.
    c: You're not being active enough on Mibba (I call total BS on this!)
    d: Be happy with what you get.
    e: Write for yourself, not for others.
    f: Maybe no one likes what you write? (I haven't exactly gotten this response but I have heard plenty responses that say something like "They probably don't know the fandom you're writing in," or "It's not cup of tea.")

    This is why I try commenting on stories when people ask me to because, even if I can't give constructive criticism, any kind of feedback can help. Sometimes I wish that the comment swap feature was fixed and updated so we can actually get some sort of feedback, especially where people shouldn't leave short comments that seems like they're not really reading it.

    Don't get me wrong, I love having subs and reccs but I'd take all that away in a heartbeat to get one decent comment with decent feedback. It's because of the repetitive excuses that I've listed above that I almost don't bother reading and commenting on stories anymore.
