I just think if you're gonna go through the effort of writing a ridiculously long story, expect people not to read/comment it. Who's gonna sit at their computer all fucking day reading a 97 chapters-long story?

I don't even understand the whole comments thing. If I really have something important to say to the author I pm him/her. But only if it's something really important, constructive criticism and let's say hints and tips about the story.
I think everyone should have a beta, someone to write with, someone to review their stories. Work out together what's good and bad for the story. But just one person, maybe 2. More it's just confusing. In my opinion.

Or maybe comments are supposed to be this kind of review things. Aw I think those are almost totally useless too. The bottom line is alway either how bad or extraordinary that movie/book was.
I never beg for comments -not that I'd have stories online at the moment, now I feel awkward about that - I think that the readers number is pretty much relevant. Readers and subscribers.

If I have a new story, I will try to promote it, but after it gets to be like, ten or so chapters long, I just become satisfied with those who read, and don't bother.

Yeah i will kill for her, i agree.
My story is 20 chapters long
And i've stopped asking for new readers
I know that i hate it when a story is so intensly long after a while of reading your eyes start to burn out.

well when someone asks me to read something, and i go, and it's 325 chapters *no joke* and it's pretty much what just about majority of the stories on here are...why should i waste my time on reading about Gee and whoever having passionate buttsex after going down on each other? Or that lonely outcast who meets a struggling band member and things work out....sorry..but i've already seen "Coyote Ugly" and hated it! and i'm not gonna comment the story if i didn't read it..an di'm not gonna lie, and tell it's awesome when it really really really sucks

Ahhh ok thanks kill for her, scuse my ignorance =D
And druscilla yeah i spose, but y'know sometimes people dont really have favourite lines...i spose sometimes if people didnt really want to comment but would feel bad if they didnt like?
You can always tell the sympathy comments =D
But even so, they took the time to tell you they liked it.
Idk about you guys but comments, whatever they say make me feel good
I would never complain about them because they're short or not entirely specific.

Any comment is better than no comment.
But lots of comments are better than "those" comments.
I think if we take the time to write and post for them, they can take 15 seconds to quote their favorite line.

    To be honest, some stories I read either I loved it and can't find words to describe it in a comment or just think;
    'Oh...kay.' And leave.
But I feel bad because I want comments for mine but I don't comment many stories :\...
I write to get better at it :]

    Well said!

    I totally agree with that

But I have to admit, I get pretty wound up when I find I have four comments from different people all saying the same thing

    Great update soon

    It's kinda predictable.

I like comments that are more personal, about the chapter.....but you are very right
