I did that with Blooming Ties. Like I didn't like how overly melodramatic everything was in the story, so I just took the chapters and scenes that I didn't like or felt were too dramatic, toned down the drama and just rewrote them. Very little got deleted, but I managed to develop all the characters a little more and make them seem more fitting. I may have to rewrite the story again though.

Thanks guys, both of your input makes me feel better, and it helps.
I think I am going to start editing on the side, without altering what is up already. And when I decide what to change and what to leave in, I'll decide if I want to start all over or just adjust a few pieces. Smile

this is totally what i do on a monthly basis. you know what i do is write & (sometimes) finish the story before going back & plotting out the chapter guides & maybe elaborate on what i really wanted to do. i have this story i'm doing that w/ rn called wicked & i'll be honest i was so proud of it when i finished (as it's a thriller basing itself around the south korean president that was assassinated) but it has so much work to be done w/

you ever like start reading your stories & realize that you threw in things @ a random moment just to make it ten times more interesting? yea that's what i did. & i rushed the chapters i wanted to really elaborate on. you can try that! but i agree w/ bucky.angel, don't force yourself to edit, rather try going w/ the flow of your story so it all seems to ease through c: that's all the advice i can give you, but if you ever need help plotting anything, just send me a message & i'd totally love to hear all about it

It's happened to me before. The most memorable time it happened was when I went back a year later and re-read my first attempt at NaNo and realised it was horrible, even though at the time I had adored it and was so proud of it and myself Facepalm The thing that bothered me the most was how unrealistic it was. I laughed at so many points because it just sounded ridiculous and I was like "that would never happen, even in this made-up world/planet".

Since I don't know much about your story, it's hard to give advice on whether or not you should edit it or restart, but I will say just do whatever you think feels right. Don't force yourself to edit it if that's not working for you, because it might be easier to start fresh. Good luck!
