You should do fine your first year of uni. Should probably make a correction here. I am American and go to school in America, however I am used to saying 'uni' after taking Deutsch for sechs jahren. Pretty much the way I've survived this long is by talking to people about awkward things and being myself. As long as you are yourself and don't pretend to be anyone else, people will love you.
My first year dorm mate is actually my best friend now and has helped me through depression and all and we went random (were just put together). It's tough at first but if you find small things to bond over and kind of just do things, making friends will get easier.
Yes you've pretty much hit the nail on the head with one shots.
I've had a lot of people in the past who have requested such things and I felt really uncomfortable writing it (especially since it would feel like writing for a younger sister), but I did it anyway because I didn't want them mad at me. However, I've grown a pair since then since enrolling in counseling (for other issues).
If you want to wait for others to request that's fine. I totally understand. Right now, I've just been resting up from finals and just need something fun to do.

I'm so scared but excited...I'm sure you've been through these kind of mixed emotions and more. What's it like, did you find it easy to make friends and get along with dormmates etc?
Ohh so I think I finally understand what "oneshots" are, if that's what the requests are for? They are like...a short story about two (more?) characters (normally the person requesting and other character(s) they're requesting?) in the set scenario; is that right? o_O
It sounds interesting, but I'm scared. IDK why, it just seems scary.
I totally understand why you wouldn't want to write that, I'm personally repulsed by those kind of things so you wouldn't have to worry about anything even romantic for a request I make. But I still am not so sure how this works, so could I wait until some others give requests and see how they design it if that's alright?
Equally, I totally understand if you become too busy etc. I want you to know there's no obligation to, and I'd want it to be something fun to write if you're bored only. No pressure!
