Sometimes it's best to keep the chapters together, I mean if they're both taking place in the same time frame or contain the same subject (like how there would be a two parter episode of your favorite tv show that would be aired together in the first run), then it'd be best to put them together, but if they do fine on their own then keep them separated. I had a similar problem where I wrote a chapter that was about 10,000 words and I ended up splitting it up before posting it. If you feel more comfortable writing really long chapters in opposed to short ones, then go ahead and do what you feel is right.

Me personally, I write my chapters as long as I feel they should be (I tend write really long chapters when i'm really inspired) and then i look it over and decide whether or not the chapter could/should be split up.

I'd say keep them separate. 2,000 is a pretty good amount per chapter.

I'm having the same issue with one of my stories. I wrote it, not thinking that I would ever post it to Mibba, so the chapters aren't formatted for this. My second chapter is about 6 thousand words and I feel like I need to split it (but then that makes the content seem arbitrary). I personally write chapters for Mibba around 3,000 words, so I was trying to get that chapter down to that by splitting it, but it just wasn't working.

I would keep them separate if it were me. Just so it's not too crazy long.
