Late to the party, but I'm not going to lie, I bought the book and I find it much more entertaining gender swapped. It's like 100% more guilty-pleasureish to read and I'm having way to much fun with it. I will tell you the ending is different, and I like the ending much better in the gender swapped version.

I suppose it is fanfiction since she's essentially re-doing her work in a way that is unimaginative on the surface. I hadn't really thought about that. And while I know many fanfic writers have done it, I guess, idk I'm such a fan I don't care lmfao

But on a serious note, I remember she had plans to tell Edward's side of the story and then some ass leaked it early. I'm so happy that she's doing this, because of all the shit and harassment she got throughout her journey with Twilight.

HAHAHA @ the last line. Same. I know 50 shades does get a lot of shit for being glorification of an abusive relationship masked as BDSM - whatever, I'm not an expert - and Twilight gets shade for being an abusive relationship. Outside of that, what shade did 50 Shades get? None. What shade did Twilight get? Anything and everything.

I honestly think it's a bold move. A bit ridiculous but also very clever. But the genderswapped idea isn't what's clever, it's been done a ton, but a writer doing their own fan fiction is.

Especially when considering the fact that Meyer (and her young fans) has been pretty much consistently shit on for Twilight and then EL James still managed to piggyback off its fame with her Twilight fanfic 50 Shades (and her fans -who are generally much older- has escaped the amount and kind of criticism Twilight fans often faced). It seems like a big screw you to everyone; basically saying, if this person can make a fortune writing fan fiction off my work, so can I.

I agree with you too. Especially when it comes to the opinions of fanfction and EL James supporters. You can't support fan fiction, in general, and snub Meyer as lazy for this. It just doesn't make sense.

Also, even if it's just a way for her to make more money, I definitely can't be mad at her for that.

[If this book is just 400 pages of shade for EL James, I'm so 100% here for it.]

Hahah I think that this is a good response. Let me know if you find that PDF, I'm poor af so I'll be on the waiting list at the library for ages. I'm going to read it because, as cheesy as it is, I loved Twilight and New Moon. Also a female Jacob? A bad-ass Native girl? Yes fucking PLEASE.

I've seen a lot of people slamming this for being something easily done or to make money, and just everything. But I don't believe that. Writing is hard. Especially writing something good and something you're proud of. Ime writers are very critical of writing and of their own work. And making money? Nah. I think, as she said, she wanted to show people that she didn't just write Bella as a helpless character. I do think that genderswapped people would have not been as rude about it, and voila! She's done it.

Honestly, I think it's lazy. The original, in my opinion, wasn't that great. Granted, when I read it in middle school, I loved it. But I've grown a lot since then. I think she did it to make more money, which is fine, but I can't take her seriously. Let me know what you think about it!

The only reason why I'm going to read it is because Jacob is now a "warm, throaty-voiced" girl who builds cars and rides motorcycles who also appears to be a butch werewolf and that is exactly my aesthetic.
