I agree with what you're saying, except when these characters are actually written by trans people.

Some of us do (or have) had it hard and want to see characters with similar hardships to remind us that we can get through these things. I really applaud your confidence, though, because I'm on testosterone and I still hate myself, albeit less than before.

I'm not trying to argue, though, because the dominant narrative is pretty bleak and really shouldn't be. There's a time and a place for sad stories, and they don't all have to be sad.

Well okay I'm very much cis, but I'm with you on this, if you're gonna write a character that is going through somethig you personally don't understand, ffs do your research. And by research, I don't just mean a quick look through wikipedia.

thank you for this Hail it's so important to talk about things like this bc it seems like people write things on impulse & it can be so offensive sometimes

This is very interesting and so important to bring up. I've actually been thinking on and off for a couple years now to include a trans character in a story I've been writing for a while, but I'm so unsure on how to approach it, like even if I research heaps I still don't want to offend anyone y'know? There's so much to think about in that aspect but regardless, thank you for bringing awareness to it.
