It's happened to me before, which is why i save every 100 words. xD

Reminds me of a time when I was doing data entry for a company and I accidentally somehow exited the Excel window without saving about two hours of data entry.

Thanks. I tried that and found some documents I closed without saving, but not the one I was looking for unfortunately

File > Open > Recent Documents > Recover unsaved documents
or
File > Info > Manage Versions > Recover unsaved documents

You can always consult Google though. I don't really remember all of the steps, sorry

This never happened to me with school because I was kind of crazy about saving my work every few minutes. Seriously, I'd open a new document, MLA format it, and immediately save it

This has happened to me countless times while writing papers for classes. I know the panic feeling! But when you figure out everything is okay it feels so good hah!

You can restore unsaved documents in Word.

I usually save stuff constantly but something just went wrong in my brain and I almost paid for it, ha ha

What I try to do is either use Google Docs which will auto save your work. Or with Word, just save the document before you start writing, then try to save it every so often in case that does happen.
