This list is amazing. I agree completely that every story needs these things, particularly secondary characters that are real players instead of a device to move the plot along. I think we've all seen enough of the bitchy ex girlfriend who appears suddenly to wreck the relationship and then vanishes without a trace later in the story.
I'm actually proud of myself for naturally having quite a few of these things in my stories. My female characters are always confident in themselves and independent but still want to look nice (clothes/makeup) without going over the top. I have characters who have been wrong about a lot and who are learning to make the right decisions. I have intricate secondary character plot lines. I have a space story. A college story. And a few other things on this list.
But there is a lot I should work on. Cultural Diversity is a big one for me. And adding a bit more diversity in my male characters when it comes to their personalities.
Girl your blogs are killing it. I love everything on your lists. Especially ↳ Boys who don't play sports but live it through the television because that made me laugh And also because that's literally me_irl
