I dont really get any earthquakes here in maryland but i felt my first one back in 2011 or 2012 and it lasted only a minute or two because i was sitting close to where i am now in my room, about to get up from my computer when i felt the ground shake. it was a bit confusing for me since that was my first earthquake. XD
Haha I live in flatland too (that's all Chicago is). But Chicago has had two small ones in my lifetime. I slept through both and didn't know about them until school the next day
In the area I live nearby in NYC we are literally known as flat land lol. So we don't get earthquakes often but one time my mother and I were in a restaurant when one happened like a summer or so ago.
