My goodness! Yeah, I agree. Best to invest and save your money elsewhere. Especially because property taxes have gotten so ridiculous. The bigger and nicer the lot, the more taxes.

I think it is much better to have a modest home <3 and I hope you guys continue to live well without worry just fixing things can cost crazy money (as you've clearly already experienced) xD

Yeah, I think a lot of it has to do with that. We couldn't afford living in some places. We live in a small town in Georgia, and some of the places around here are ridiculous just because they have mountain views. I just can't justify spending a crap ton of money on house. I mean, we just redid our back door because part of the subfloor and threshold was rotted and I about died when I saw the credit card bill. lol.
