It definitely can be triggering. But there are trigger warnings AND there's a heavy implication throughout the series that Hannah had people who cared for her and she didn't make all the right decisions or do everything that she could've done to be more self-caring. She's an imperfect character, so with that kind of character development, i think it shows people (who might be suicidal) that there is another option and there are ppl who care. But for sexual assault survivors, it's a different story. I could totally understand why those who've been sexual abused shouldn't be advised to watch this.
I finished watching it yesterday and although I agree people should watch it, I also think that if someone isn't in the best state of mind they shouldn't watch it because it's very intense and triggering.
