Thanks for commenting! Adding the whole publication angle to things puts an interesting spin on the subject that I hadn't even thought about.

I agree with Hina. It is the work of the writer and therefore the writer should ultimately decide. When publication comes in, things get a bit more complex, but I feel that by strictly sticking to such rules the writer will feel limited and therefore produce work which reflects that. A writer should be allowed to do what a writer wants to do - the editors can fiddle around with it later.

Thanks for commenting! Yeah, that's how I tend to look at it, too. I think it should be left up to the author, and I think it's okay to write things without morals (that is, when I'm not overthinking the whole matter. lol) It's arguably better to write things with morals, but it's not wrong to write things without them (unless they are, like, outright amoral.)
Something I forgot to mention though was that what is "moral" and what is "amoral" and what is just like none of the above can be pretty subjective. A work that I find highly moral, you might find meaningless or even offensive. (I wish I would've remember to write that in the blog post. Facepalm Oh well, maybe I can work it into a future post.)

I'm not sure if what i'm about to say will add anything to the discussion, but I think writers in general, especially ones who are christians or part of a religion, shouldn't feel obligated to write a moral and theme into their story, especially since most published stories are more less written for entertainment. Our stories are a bit of an extension of ourselves but we shouldn't feel obligated to put in morals and messages into our stories. And honestly, it's up to you (writers in general) if you want to put a moral/message into your story.
