Always follow up. When you turn in an application. keep calling every other week until you get a yes or no answer. It shows you are interested in the job.

I'd say definitely hold off on telling them. Wait until everything is set in stone and then tell them. Employers should understand because it's part of college. Don't wait until the last minute, but definitely wait until you're settled there.
