Congrats! I hope it works out for you!
I've never been to New Zealand (or any continent that wasn't North America lol), but I have studied abroad. I did a summer semester program in Mexico with a group of students from my university and several others (led by my favorite spanish professor from our university at that time!) I don't have too many tips that would be of much use to you probably, but I will say that you should take advantage of the opportunity and try to get to know the people and the culture of where you're going. And have a lot of fun, of course (but not too much fun. Don't get yourself in any dodgy situations if you can avoid it! *parental moment* lol)
Super pro-tip though: Financial aid and scholarships helped me out A TON when I did a study abroad program, so definitely look into all that stuff that you can! If you play your cards right you might not even need a gofundme tbh.

I did, best experience of my life. My advice would be to just be yourself, accept the situations you find yourself in and don't go in with any expectations. Be open to experience, but not too open. Don't try too hard to live in the moment because it'll have the opposite effect; just let yourself absorb the experience for what it really is.
