Very interesting and thought-provoking, as almost any discussion of this subject tends to be!
Personally, I think it's important to try to separate art from artist as much as possible, but that's mostly so I don't let my opinion of a person bias my opinion of their art, which I believe should stand on its own and speak for its self, at least as much as it possibly can. Of course, I sometimes fail at this because there are some things I just cannot find it in me to overlook or some people I just cannot properly divorce from their art (sometimes that's their fault and sometimes it's mine.)
I will say though, I know in a lot of cases art isn't 100 percent separate from its creator. It's almost impossible (if not literally impossible) to create something and not impart at least a small piece of yourself into it.
I've never really considered before whether my works say a lot about me or to what extent I can be separated from them though. You've really given me something to think about.
Thanks for posting this!
It's an interesting topic. Thanks for taking the time to listen to my ramblings.
