By fiancé and I are both agnostic, and my roommate/best friend is Mormon as are her kids. We celebrate for them. It’s more for the commercialization: the gifts, treats, and events. Our kids range from ages 1 - 8 and we like the keep the spirit alive for them. The holiday is not a religious day for one.

Not a bad exchange at all.
    I guess it's sad because it's nostalgic.

I love Christmas music and Christmas movies, too! Hahaha lol I think the opposite though. I feel like it’s one of the happiest times of the year even though it’s all about buying things and all that (which most people can’t really do). But still the ideology of “Joy to the World” and “Peace on Earth” aren’t bad in exchange for material things! lmfao

I think you are absolutely right about it being so commercial and marketed to people that we feel pressured to partake in it.
Your family thinks its too pagan? That's hilarious! It sucks that you don't get to celebrate because of that though.
Honestly, I like the warmth and cheer of Christmas; I'm the first one to start playing Sinatra and pop in old movies to watch. But it's kind of a sad time, too, isn't it?

My family no longer celebrates any major Holidays. They call them the “hell” a days (it’s because they are overly religious and see the “holidays” as pagan! Especially Christmas oddly enough lmbo Facepalm). But I guess the pressure to buy gifts and decorate can be all crazy. But I think that’s all there is to it: the movies, tv shows, and all that which makes people feel like they have to participate. That’s the only way I feel like it’s Christmas for me (because like I said my family chooses to no longer celebrate). I just see all the commercials and movies declaring it’s Christmas even though, you’re right, not everyone is Christian (Christmas is a Christian holiday) or celebrates it. So, I think that’s why people feel pressure. Because the Holiday is so marketized in stores and in entertainment in the States.
