I'm so glad I'm not the only one who has returned here as an adult and misses what it used to be! Mibba was the first (and last) place I shared my writing publicly, which makes me kinda sad. I came here from GeekStinkBreath (a Green Day fansite). I since went to university to get an English degree - I graduated six years ago already which seems WILD. I fell into a career within the non-profit sector after that which has been SO rewarding, but equally VERY draining, and I've not had half the creative energy that I used to have. Being in lockdown is what brought me back here too, hoping I could fall back in love with writing again and have the support of people who feel the same. It's so sad that Mibba is so empty now - I open forums I used to lurk in all the time as a teen and find the last post was sent over 12 years ago. Still, seeing posts like this give me a glimmer of hope!

I'm sorry you had that experience! I'm actually going to be doing fiction writing rather than doing a lit degree. So my focus will be on writing myself. But coming out of one master's and my undergrad, I know how important it is to establish a friend group. I'm actually already made a lot of friends with people who are going. A bunch of international students from a group chat. I'm sure my program will be a little clique-y, but I've already got a friend in my program and bunch outside, so I'm not too worried! More worried about having to isolate when I first arrive. :/

Hey, I went to the University for Edinburgh and got a degree in Literature and Modernity. Sounds like what you're about to do. I hope you enjoy it! I had a hard time making friends, especially as one year was so short. A lot of people from all over the world go to the university, so it can be both fun and a challenge to get close to people and form a group. I felt like the university was so clique-like and like I was suddenly thrown back into high school, but maybe that was my particular year there.

i think it's for the best. especially considering one of the power users on here was a predator who used this site to groom people.

I still check back in now and then, but this is very true. Mibba hasn't been able to grow with us, i.e. - all the site issues and the lack of users, but it's nice to see people pop back up every now and again! I started on here over 10 years ago, so it's really sad that the sight is dying. It was definitely my home.

I was a 12-13 year old baby, struggling with a lot and trying to see a future for myself. Now I'm twenty-four with two bachelor's degrees (English and journalism) and a Master's in Literature and Rhetoric/Composition. I've been living on my own for six years, which was something I always dreamed of being able to do. I'm currently actually staying with family as I prepare to move to Scotland in September to study fiction writing at the University of Edinburgh, where hopefully I'll stay on for my PhD after I finish a one year MSc program!

It's all been pretty bizarre and up-in-the-air with Coronavirus, but hopefully I'll still be able to move there this year. So far they're saying it'll happen; there will just be some delays in when I'll be able to arrive.

But yeah, that's my plan for now. Move to Scotland for at least a year (but hopefully four), write books, work in publishing over there, and see what comes of it. I never would've believed it at 13. I really never saw a future for myself back then. But it's nice that my life has been documented on Mibba.

I hope things are good for you out there in the real world.

Dude, this is too real. I think I came here when I was like...14? Idk, it's been so long. I think I came here also from Quizilla (RIP) and I just turned 23 back in April. I don't write nearly as much as I use to, but I still try to write little passion-projects on the side. I currently have a fanfiction on Tumblr I desperately need to update but life got in the way lol. I graduated from college last year with a degree in Psychology and a minor in Women's Studies. My initial plan was to go to graduate school for Industrial-Organizational/Work Psychology but I realized going through the grad school application process I don't have a passion for it so I took a year off. I am currently working in Auto insurance as a claims adjuster with plans of starting my masters in the upcoming Fall semester in Human Resources that, hopefully, my job will pay for then I can dip on them because I HATE the job I have now lol.

I currently live with my boyfriend. We've been dating for almost 3 years. Things are good.

But, 1000%, if we won like the lottery or some random family member gave us like a massive inheritance where we could live the rest of our lives comfortably and I could just write for the rest of my days I would take it in a heartbeat lol.

hi! i feel the same. mibba will always hold a special place in my heart, its crazy to think how long i've had this account, since i was 14. and i came here from quizilla. i'm turning 25 in 2 months ahhhhhh. i used to be on here sooooo much in high school, on & off now. i still write here & there, but not as much as i used to. i'm a college dropout, considering getting back into school. i became a GM last year at 23 y/o and ran a restaurant with over 40 employees and was always stressed, but i quit once the pandemic started bc FUCK THAT. i've had aspirations in doing something in the creative field since i was a very very young child, but my fears of failure and putting myself out there in the spotlight keep me from pursuing anything unfortunately. quarantine has made me a lot more confident with myself though tbh, i live alone and have had LOTS of alone time to sift through my thoughts and feelings and unpack some things. i hope you're doing well amidst all this craziness, what are your aspirations??
