i must agree with you...even though i'm a diehard fan of slash and fanfic and always will be, some are REAL creepy and others are just...guk. like, all the gabilliam slashes always have billvy getting raped or abused or he's a hooker or a stripper. or a wimpy gay dude.
and i REALLY lost hope when i read one where jesus was paired up with some dude in a band...
they need to give the real writers a chance.
Now, reading original fiction is painful, the OF on this website, anyway (and I mean no offence). I can only stand to read a handful of one-shots. It's almost like people are trying too hard to come up with these stories and they either turn out decently forced or just plain sh*t.
Fanfiction is so much easier to write AND read because anyone reading (or writing) the story is already familiar with the characters (minus OC's) and, therefore, you don't NEED any introductions. I'm not saying you should try to make a living off of it, because, obviously, that would never do. What I'm doing is using fanfiction as the foundation of my knowledge, and eventually, when I'm ready, move on to original fiction.
So, I don't think it's fair to bash fanfiction, when it's unfair to the author who's either just having fun, or actually trying to improve their writing skills. It wouldn't be fair to deprive them of that kind of experience just because of a bad reputation due to annoying, untalented fangirls. (SORRY FOR RANTING)
