Who cares if you were raped, or you and your boyfriend had sex and didn't mean to get pregnant!

I'm sure the child would, let alone the mother. Would you want to be a product of rape? A constant reminder of something awful? I agree with Kill City

    I actually agree with you.

And to the person who posted below me [not that it will make a difference] -- How on Earth is that the child's fault? The unborn LIFE had nothing to do with what happened to the mother. Every human deserves a chance at life.

And as far as the 'the child could be unwanted/unhappy'. True. But who's life is perfect? Is your life perfect? Mine isn't. Plus, the child could also find a happy home and live a perfectly healthy life.

No one has the right to take that away.

Okay, let me ask you this, if you were raped and got pregnant, how would you feel when you woke up every morning knowing that inside of you is the child of the man who raped you? You would have to suffer from painful flashbacks of the rape. Abortion is necessary in some cases.

I believe abortion can be neccasary. Keeping an unwanted child can cause huge problems for both the child and the mother, and others. The parent may not love the child, and this can make a child's life miserable. The mother may find it hard to get work, making finance another problem. Even if the child is given to adoption agencys, later in life the child may feel like they were unwanted, or they may then try to track down thier parents, bringing back bad memeories among other things and it can be distressing. It's complicated, and yeah you may think it is cruel, but it saves people a lot of pain. And besides, whilst a child is still developing, I believe it cannot yet be classed as a person, it is just a foetus, like an early developing chicken in a n egg, it cannot think or feel pain.

I will probably get bashed for this, but it's my collective opinion. I am not an evil or heartless person, in fact I think it's more compassionate to prevent this kind of pain early on.

well I think it's the dumbest solution I've ever heard of. Who cares if you were raped, or you and your boyfriend had sex and didn't mean to get pregnant!
Yes, it's devastating. But isn't it worse to give up a child's life, before even considering what happiness it could bring to another family?
Like you said, It only effects 9 months of their life.
they can put it up for adoption, so then someone who can't even have children and want them, can have a child.
    jeez.

Abortion is devastating solution, but in some circumstances it is necessary. A baby that is unwanted will probably not have a very happy or fulfilling life.

I agree with abortion under circumstances. I don't believe it should be an alternative to contraception. But I do think its acceptable under circumstances of rape for example or if the mothers life is going to be in danger. Also if the child is going to be born with something that will make it's life hell. then I believe it's acceptable because it's fairer on the child. In my opinion. Though i don't believe I personally could ever have an abortion.
