i felt that way too when my grandma died about a year ago.I didn't cry or anything.I felt bad for the rest of my family though because they all loved her (not that i didn't).I just couldn't cry,I didn't know her that well.
but it might if you tell your mom about your feelings.

and yeah i totally know what you mean by not really caring but you do. that's what it was like with my 2nd cousin (suicide) and my great-grandma (old age).
