I agree that the writing on the wall was uncalled for and made the whole cause look bad, you know?
I'm not saying the whole thing was a terrible thing to do, because it's not, the whole 'striking' thing. It's a good way to be heard, and you guys were *at first* doing it peacefully, which makes it even better. However, once the violence and brutality broke loose, that's when it grabs the bad attention and although it's heard it's not the point you were trying to get across. *hope that made some sense..*
I'd love to be a part of something like that, to be heard.

I think sometimes when they just wont hear you out you've got to fight back and a riot is really a way to get listened to.

    I would have done it
In fact I'm real glad you got to organize for the cause man, not many students do it, I know my class mates wouldn't

    resistance is the way

Riots are teenagers and older peoples way of getting their point crossed. If it was the only way that they could have gotten herd, then so be it. They shouldn't of write on the gym though, that was highly uncalled for. Sometimes riots are necessary. Sometimes it is the only thing that will have a wide spread effect.

the teachers have to leave because they'rebeing made redundant...sacked.
they can stay for the end of this school year.
    but not the next.
This means some Year 10s (different from an american schooling system) won't finish their courses as their teachers are leaving. x

For me riots just grab attention, and eventually they realize how far people will go to make their point. I would mabey go to all of the teachers that are leaving and ask them why they are,and see if they are able to stay for students to finish?

    -Hope all goes well, Rachel-
