That's what people do, they stereotype. I'm the same way, I hate it, but no matter what, they're going to do it. I wouldn't worry too much about them, just ignore them.

Darling, labels are part of everyday life. Don’t say you hate them because you’re just being a hypocrite. So if you don’t stereotype anyone, does that mean you don’t say “business man.” when woman work in business too. Do you not think of builders as men, and nurses as woman? There are so many more, thousands of them, and I bet you use them. Labels or stereotypes are not just Emo, Chav, Goth, and Pikie. So please, don’t try this “I don’t label anyone,” bullshit because I don’t buy it.
And at the start of a name, it's meant to have a capital letter. English lessons could help that.

    also,

if people call you by a name or a label its generally because you are potraying the image of that name/label. if you wear all black, thats what emos/goths do, so therefore they are going to immediately think "goth". thats what goths do after all, right?

if people are gunna take you serious hun, i'd look into some english lessons. your grammar is awful.

I tend to find labels hilarious. People really struggle to fit me in a category.

"She's a nerdy hippie indie kid who doesn't eat cows and needs to cut her hair."

    ^ That's one of the finer one's I've heard.

It can be hard, but you just need to find the humor in it. Just because you don't judge, it doesn't mean others won't.

People have always followed labels. It is annoying yes but just think to yourself.. "Wait a god dam minute! I'm a label! That means that they are nothing!"

The last Dagny: Obviously you know nothing of human nature then. Humanity uses labels to sort things. It's how our brain works, and we do it without even thinking about it. Judging people is also an automatic reaction, because we all form opinions - subconsciously or otherwise - on situations, people and objects alike without getting to know or experience that person/thing better. Labelling someone and being nasty about it is two completely different things. Do not state something if you don't have the facts to back it up, darlin'. Smiley

no actually it isnt human nature there isnt no such thing, dont blame people for being nasty on human nature, and let them off the hook, they have a brain, its what influenced them to even label you.

labelling is just a way to group a bunch of people with the same interests as each other together, it isnt neccessarily name calling. sometimes people dont mean it in a bad way, they just wanna know what trends and styles you're following.

skank. has it right as well. its human nature.

i dislike the idea of labelling when its hurtful because you choose different styles than everyone else but when it's just grouping you and your friends together then it doesnt really bother me..

It is human nature to label people. If you think labelling is bullshit, you're being a hypocrite and pretty much calling yourself an idiot.

Everyone does it. Including you. You judge and label people because you are human.

    And honey, it's stereotype.

Tell them that you don't follow a stereotype, you follow the lifestyle of your choice, and that they're just jealous because you choose to be independent.
