What I do is look at my favorite lyrics and get inspiration from that... I have like a page of a little excerpts from songs. that always inspires me. But yeah i know what you mean, it was easier for me to write when i was depressed. Good Luck!

I know it sounds stupid, but try to find inspiration from anything you see, hear, whatever. I can understand what you mean by saying being kinda 'depressed' made it easier. I write a fuck lot more poetry when I'm feeling down.
Don't worry about sappy or cliche, just work with the idea and let it 'flow' a bit, then try to put your own twist on the idea or something, if that makes any sense.
