A while back, a friend of mine approached me, attempting to discover the proper name to her sexuality. She told me she thought she was pansexual because of how a web forum described it. The forum she directed me to described pansexuality as if it were another version of bisexuality. It led me to wonder: how many people know what the term "pansexual" means?

If you do, does it bother you how many people tend to treat pansexuality as bisexuality's equal?
It bothers me. I don't like when people use terms ignorantly. Not only does it shine badly on the person using the term, it teaches other people the wrong definition of that term. In this particular situation, what if an individual freely claimed to be pansexual to someone who really understood what pansexuality meant? If that second person decided to introduce a friend, perhaps someone that wasn't simply "girl" or "boy" but rather had his or her own sexual identity, feelings could get hurt.
