Help please!

Hey guys I would really like some help. I'm writing a small story on the side for a couple of friends and the main guy character is either goth or emo. I don't really know which one he's going to be yet and the person he's based of off says he doesn't care. Is there anyone here who can help tell the difference and explain it enough so I don't offend one group or the other? I tried Google but I didn't exactly get the results I'm looking for... Any and all help is greatly appreciated!

If it helps here's what the main guy is like:

He's picked the main girl as 'his' so he's going to basically annoy her until she agrees to go out with him. He actually does really like her and for once he isn't playing around with a girl. He's super confident/arrogant and he hates to be ignored. He's possessive and demanding too.

So can anyone help me? Please? Just leave a comment or pm me pleaseeeee! I really need help with this.
