Edited by Natalia Smirnova and Julia Goumen, this is a wonderfully gripping mystery anthology about the dark underbelly of Moscow. With contributions from several well-known Russian authors, anyone with a fondness for intrigue and masterfully woven plots should give this a read. “This anthology is an attempt to turn the tourist Moscow of gingerbread and woodcuts, of glitz and big money, inside out; an attempt to reveal its fetid womb and make sense of the desolation that still reigns,” is part of the introduction by the editors and is probably the most apt description of the book.
