Hairstyles of the Damned by Joe Meno

Brian is a young guy from one of the white neighborhoods of southside Chicago who is in love with his (usually deemed unattractive) best friend. Gretchen has a lot of problems with her body that she vulgarly voices every day. They're both into the punk rock scene emerging in the 80's and use their music to get through so much going on in their city. Different stories emerge in Brian's point of view with different people in his life, facing unique and/or new conflicts whether it's race, drugs, violence, or popularity.
