The Vast Fields of Ordinary by Nick Burd

Dade Hamilton is an 18 year old senior that just graduated high school and has an ongoing secret fling with Pablo, a quarterback on the football team. Because he lives in the suburbs, Dade is not openly homosexual and is even threatened by Pablo that if word gets out, there would be dire consequences. Along the way home from a party, Dade meets Alex Kincaid, who later on helps him to stand up for himself and be open about his sexuality.
