Affinity by Sarah Waters

Margaret Prior, an upper-class women recovering from a suicide attempt, begins visiting Millbank prison as part of her charity work. During her visits, Margaret becomes intrigued with Selina Dawes, a spiritualist who was imprisoned after a séance went wrong. As the two women grow closer, Margaret is slowly drawn into the world of ghosts and spirits.
