A Step Toward Falling by Cammie McGovern

This dual-POV novel tells the story of three high school students who crossed paths after one, Belinda, was attacked at a football game. Emily and Lucas both witnessed the attack, but neither stepped in or got help. The two are pushed to perform their community service at a center for disabled people when the school finds out, hoping to make a difference and fix things with Belinda who is developmentally disabled. The overlap of Emily and Lucas' romance with Belinda's PTSD and family problems as this all occurs makes for a good amount of conflict and growth to catch the eyes of readers.
