What don't you know? You just write an article and post it. If it's approved, it'll appear on the homepage.

I'm not sure if I am keen on this idea. I feel like it benefits only people who write articles and such. I'm not big on articles but I do adore the forums.

There will eventually be other ways to own points. And users will be able to gift them to you as well. For awhile we could earn points for submitting books to a section for New Mibba, but that's currently closed.

P.S: that wasn't intended to sound bitchy.

This is kind of dumb. Why should I have to write reviews to get points? I like getting points for stories better, but I'm still apprehensive about the whole thing. What's the point/

I never liked the idea of points. I think that points should be given to and from other users like suggested though. That would be cooler than getting points for writing articles. Why should article writers be the only ones given points? It may promote article writing, but it would just frustrate users. Letting users be able to possibly give one point to a user max. (forever) for like a story or just because they like the person seems better. I know people will just complain that it's a popular contest, but so what? I'm okay with not being super popular. Its just like story views or comments. Some are more popular than others. Smile

To encourage users to participate in Mibba more by writing reviews and articles and providing books. We will also be able to gift points to other users.

Why? You can write an article, review, or submit a book. Anyone can. Everyone has an equal playing field. It's not like there are "article writers" on Mibba; there are writers. It's up to you to decide if you would like to write an article or review, but you are on the same level as everyone else. If you don't want to do it, don't blame the site.

Honestly, I don't care; it's just another "grade", and they've never mattered much to me.

What I don't get is what they're good for. They don't seem to mean better promotion for those who have more points.

We will be able to gift them to other users (for writing a good story, a good poem, a good post, etc.) We will also be able to purchase custom ranks with them, meaning where it says "Member' under your name, it could say something else.

(P.S. If you want to know how to make links another color, message me.)

What kind of ranks? And why do we have to "purchase" them - why aren't they just dedicated to you?
It kinda sounds like a modern, online militia to me.

(I'd rather know why links were originally made blue)

You purchase them because they're something extra that you don't need, so you contribute to the site in a small way and get rewarded for that work.

What kind of ranks? Well, anything that fits in the number of characters. Mine could say 'Wonderlander' or it could say 'JoBrosRox'. It's just a little extra line for you to do whatever you want with and maybe work into your theme if you wanted to.

Getting users to contribute to the site is a great way to build community, don't you think?

Sure, it's a good way to get users to be more interactive and participative, but the mere fact that certain "activities" are valued higher than others makes me think that the participation is forced upon the users, rather than self-motivated and optional; wouldn't it just derive more random and perhaps useless contributions?

Yet, I still don't understand the concept of these ranks - how do they benefit you?

The ranks don't "benefit" you per se. It's just a little line of bold text that goes under your username and you can make it say whatever you want. So like, if I had one, I might choose to make it say 'is delicious' and so it would say is delicious underneath my username. The benefit? It would make me laugh. XD

You can still receive points from other users for things like stories and good posts, but you'd need to be active on the site to get those.

And, like chai said, they don't benefit you. They're fun!
