I've noticed that when I'm writing my nanowrimo novel, my sentences tend to be longer with more description in them. I didn't notice that I do it until someone pointed it out to me when they were editing the first chapter. There are some shorter sentences within the story, but it seems like there are more long sentences than short ones. I don't know if that's bad or not, but I've always liked to read longer sentences.

I write out what I'm feeling in another person. Writing is my therapy, in a way, especially when it comes to Inhale, Exhale since I've been having drug use problems as of recently. I like seeing what it's like from different point of views. idk.

But apart from that I guess my writing has some sort of Ellen Hopkins flare. In Love That makes me so happy, she's one of my favorite authors.

I overuse commas. Well, actually, I've been told my use of commas is perfectly fine, but I tend to make huge sentences with too many clauses that mean I have to include lots of commas. It's not an easy thing to correct either.

I never write dialogue. I can write dialogue, and I'm not really worried about going out of character with speech, but I just can't place it into my writing. Unless there's a one on one situation between two characters who are having a moment that includes discussion, I will rarely ever use speech. I always take the whole 'show not tell' thing way too seriously, and rather than having characters discussing their issues from two sides I will focus on only one character who's usually a bit of a loner. Maybe the inability to fit speech into my lonely character's story says something about me as a person? I don't know. It just means I have extremely developed description skills and hardly any practice at realistic dialogue.

I tend to focus on having a dialogue in my stories but when I do focus on the actual descriptions and non-dialogue details, I do an overload of it, but i'm still not very good at describing actions. Just emotions. XD

I've noticed that I keep writing harsh topics rather than light ones, like lovers dying, fathers raping their sons, drug use, lots of suicide, rape, etc. I feel like the deep ones are the only ones I can keep myself writing.

I can name a number of things with mine. I don't even know where to begin! I do notice that when I write, I type with a lot of sentences that end kind of boringly.

    For example:

"I wanted to tell them so many things that day. Things like how Jade was the only friend I had, how I was bullied everyday and was constantly misunderstood by my teachers. I wanted to say a lot of things, but I couldn’t open my mouth to begin telling them anything."

It doesn't really come out the way I want it to. I've been trying so hard to work on my sentence structure, but I don't even know where to begin. I want to take things slowly because if i don't I end up overwhelming myself.

So I know my sentence structure needs horrible work. D:

This is my problem too, but I haven't really done anything to change it because I like doing it. XD

I have a tendency to put off introducing the character(s) to the readers till about half way through the first chapter of every story.
I always try to start off with a description of what's going, or some action of some sort.

Mine are almost always dramatic, unless it's requested to not be dramatic, like fluff or romance.

All my stories take place in Denver, Colorado and subsequently I have lots of recurring characters and characters making cameos in other stories. All my writing kind of exists in this vacuum of a setting, so something that happens in one story may have an impact on what happens in a completely different story, even if the readers are unaware of it.

Another thing in my writing is my settings are real, down to the exact address of a character's house. All the places my characters go are real places located where they are in real life, whether it's a school, concert venue, restaurant, etc. That's why I set all of my stories in Denver--it's more fun to make, for example, a coffee shop come to life when I've been in that exact coffee shop many times myself.

Also, my writing is just extremely Colorado-centric in general and I definitely paint it in a very flattering light with my writing lmfao.

I tend to turn happy, fluffy ideas into tragedies. Liars was originally supposed to be a fun camp story (this one time at band camp...) while Hallmark Village was originally going to be a proposal. I think I'm just terrible at fluff. Period.

I seem to be writing a lot of things relating to death lately - usually death personified.

I can't seem to get a balance between narration and dialogue; I tend to go overboard with one or the other.

I write a lot about lonely old people... almost everything I write, elderly people are my go-to character. Maybe that's why I'm so scared of death and old age, because I write these fucked up, depressing stories.

A lot of my recurring themes would be: curses, isolation, claustrophobia and humans turning into gods.

I use tons of dialogue too. But everything else seems to vary.

    I have a list!

    1) I don't like dialogue
    2) I can't write romance (so I don't)
    3) Almost all my stories include twins! Okay, so maybe only two or three but still, I love twins!

I write a lot of dialogue, but I've been trying to cut it down and equal it out with descriptions. I also put in a lot of hyphens. Oh! And I tend to make my stories have multiple characters. I feel like my story is too boring if I only have one or two main characters, haha. But I'm trying to work on that.
