Holy mother of biscuit tins you've seen Peacemaker? That's one of the most underrated and less known animes I've watched. I really like it. :o

Ah, yeah, I really like historical fiction anime and Peacemaker Kurogane fits the bill. I must say, Soji Okita would be my fave character as he's a skilled swordsman (and killer) despite being a bishonen.

I even collected the manga, to know what happened after the anime, but they (the publishers) either dropped the title or they put it on hiatus. Currently it's on hiatus and it frustrates me to no end >:(

Basilisk is another anime which is pretty underrated as well. It's about two shinobi (ninja) clans who are at war with each other and they need to send ten of their best ninjas to fight to their death for a scroll. The ninjas have supernatural abilities as well.

Soji is my favourite character simply because of the way he is. And how his personality contrasts with his skill during spars/battles. And the pig. Oh my.
I discovered Peacemaker when I was looking through a sale clearance in the local book and stationary shop. The first three episodes were in sale. But the dub pissed me off so I ended up watching the subbed version on the internet anyway. xD

I also love anime with a historical setting, which is why the Hellsing series is one of my favourites, as it's set in England through the 1900's.

Oh! I forgot Claymore! It's my number one favorite how could I forget to put it down? D:<
Claymore has a kind of medieval setting, with woman who have had demon ("Yoma") blood put into them to make them half demon/half human. They're all about serious business and they're sent around killing Yoma who terrorize villages.

And, Basilisk sounds pretty interesting. I'll give it a look over now. :D

The pig kinda irritate me actually, lol! Because Saizo would sometimes disappear by itself and Soji always turns to Tetsu to help him find the pig. And Tetsu is already irritating enough -.-"

Peacemaker was aired on one of the local tv programmes here in Singapore, but they decided to scrap 'Anime Night' as it didn't get much viewers. That's how I came across the serial. I went out to get the VCD set (there wasn't any DVD's back then >.<) after the series ended on tv. That's how obsessed I was, haha!

I'm not sure whether you're aware of this, but they did a live version of Peacemaker. Yeah, they did a drama of this anime and you can catch it on dramacrazy.net. I haven't watched it yet as I kept forgetting and RL stuff is keeping me busy and occupied :p

I did watch Hellsing as well, as I'm a vampire buff. But it didn't make it to my faves as the animation wasn't... pretty. I'm a bit biased when watching anime, lol!

Yup, I knew what Claymore's all about. A guy friend of mine (who's an anime fan as well) introduced me to the show. I only watched the first two episodes, but it wasn't to my interest as much :( I don't know why, but I'm more inclined to watch Japanese historical fiction anime. There's just something about slashing swords and samurais. There's a new live action movie based on the Ruruoni Kenshin anime and I'm ecstatic for it! :D

Do check out Basilisk, however, I must inform you that it's mostly a love story with a tragic ending. The whole show's kinda depressing actually. And there's also a live action movie for this, titled Shinobi: Heart Under Blade. It's Japanese, by the way. I can never watch dubbed anime as I find it really... bizarre.

Crap, I can go on and on about animes!

Tetsu... He shouts a lot. Always shouting. Always in the way. The big reason for my love for Peacemaker is that the Shinsengumi have always interested me, as a part of Japanese history. :D
And yeah, I know of the live version, but I haven't watched it because live versions of anime tend to... bother me. I don't know why, haha. xD
Probably because the live action of Ouran Highschool Host Club scarred me forever...
But, the live version of Death Note was amazing in my opinion, heh.

The Hellsing episodes have pretty appalling animation, but Hellsing OVA is an entirely different story. Improved storyline and much better animation.

I can never seem to find good Samurai based anime, and when I do, it's always dubbed. English Dub really gets under my skin. The voice acting is just... ew.
As for depressing anime, I'm kinda used to that. I watch a lot of tragic animes, and I also tend to obsess over the evil character (eg. every single villain in bleach.) who end up being killed and I get all teary and then I hate the protagonist "hero" because they're usually the one who kill them.

Claymore is depressing and certainly made me watery eyed. So did Elfen Lied.

I'm probably a weirdo for crying at anime.

Deadman Wonderland, Natsume Yuujinchou, Air TV, Durarara and Code Geass. Think
Are the first that come to mind, but there are so many more that I want to add.
I could go on forever though, I've seen so many it's really hard to decide!

Yesss... The shinsengumi intrigued me alot. They're like the police force back then. And in some way, I kinda learn a little bit of Japanese history by watching Peacemaker. About the Meiji era, Tokugawa era, etc...

Elfen Lied is twisted, yet harrowingly sad as well. I watched that and I remembered I was depressed after watching it. Another anime which I'd gotten depressed over was Blood+ I recommend it to you if you haven't watched it yet. I was also seething with anger and don't worry, I cry at watching anime as well.

Real live action shows are either a hit or a miss, usually it's the latter. Believe it or not, I haven't caught both the anime and RL Death Note yet. Haha...

I lost track at Bleach somewhere around ep 270 or so as I kinda lost interest in it. Furthermore, they kept coming up with fillers and that irked me.
