I hate it when someone uses my name (Jessica) on a really bad character. What I mean by that is there's a girl named Jessica, and she's that "evil, blond, preppy bitch". No, just no. I've read several stories like that. Why can't someone use my name on a sweet character?

If I see the name Damion, Daemon, Demon again, I'm going to Don
I don't like seeing the highly common names (common in my generation, not the babies being born now) like Sara, John, Josh, Anna, Taylor and etc. I swear if I read another story swarming with common names I'm going to completely go mrgun

Ultimately I don't mind common names as long as the whole story isn't filled with them because then I think one character is the other and things just stop making sense. I get confused too easily.

Oh and when I see my name, it's kind of weird. I've only read one story that used my name though (Ayana).

Crystal. I deplore Crystal. The amount of cringing that name makes me do... Just no.

I totally agree with you. Too many bad encounters with that name, the same with Mike. Another one I really hate is Jamie. Don't like the way it feels lol.

I absolutely loathe the names Brittany, Bridgette, Ashley, or Ashlynn. They're just names that have always gotten on my nerves. Funny enough, I have 3 cousins with those names...

Rebecca being used as the bitchy girl name!
My name is Rebecca and I must say I'm not popular, bitchy or even remotely horrible. I don't mind reading stories with my name in it, but it frustrates me when every time the name is used as the blonde bitch!

I like names that are not exactly common but not entirely crazy either. My favourite name is Amelia or Olivia because I think they are beautiful names and yet I know a handful of people with these names. I actually have a list of names on my computer which I endeavour to avoid at all costs!

I agree with those who also stated the Scene names. In fact I will avoid a story completely if the OC is all emo with a name like Skylar or Raven. The only time I will use a remotely out there name is if my character has an alter-ego.

I hate the name Helena in My Chemical Romance stories, unless Gerard and Mikey's grandmother is actually present or mentioned in the story, but even then that wasn't her real name.

I also hate name like Rainbow or Lithium, or normal names that are spelt strangely, like Gessyka instead of Jessica (no, I haven't seen that, I just couldn't think of a good example)

Is Alex a popular name to use? I've rarely seen it in any of the stories that I've came across on here. One of the main reasons I enjoy using it so much. Aiden does irritate me though. I can't stand seeing the names of people I'm related to in stories for some reason. It's one of those unavoidable things.

Maybe alex isnt used as often as it used to be but I saw it all the time. Literally, every other story, albeit they were normally sub par...

In that case I can understand why seeing it would be irritating.
I really, really dislike seeing my name in stories. The character is usually a complete bitch and more fake than a freaking centaur. Not every Britney is a horrible person, people. Twist up your story and make her nice next time you include her. Grr

I didnt noticed how much hate the name Raven has gotten on here, I actually use it in my SuperNatural Sam Winchester story and she is just the friend of the main O/C and she doesn't have powers or hell is even gothic. I named her after someone in my family, same with the name Jade (I've never used it) but it's my sister's middle name and my cousins name. Lol Skylar I used because I was watching Breaking bad a lot and it fit the girl I had written but was only for a few chapters. Also someone said Zaria they don't like but that is an arabic name if I remember properly? And I've seen a lot of people use weird names in real life and a lot of common normal names too. I dont know if it is because I lived in and near a city which could always be the case.

I do find it interesting it's mostly goth stories or gothic like stories that have these names....hmm

I try to avoid using the names of people I know because I always end up writing them rather than the character; and I do the same thing when I read characters with those names. I quite like the main having an interesting name, but nothing ridiculous and as long as there's a balance between common and uncommon names in a story I usually don't mind

I also have a thing for unisex names like Sam, Charlie or Taylor I don't know why, I just like them especially when the girl has shortened it from something like Samantha or Charlotte. I think the abbreviation of a name can say a lot about a character

I really dislike the names Candy and Crystal and those yucky names. They're just common as muck.

And I can't stand when an author makes a characters name really hard to read, or a foreign name that is complicated. So whenever I'm reading it, I'm reading a name that I can't pronounce and that's so frustrating!!

I always hate seeing my name Violet being used for the emo/scene/goth character. That's probably down to me being the complete opposite of that, but I have seen it over used a ridiculous amount. People seem to like it as it's uncommon though, or so they seem to say around me XD

I hate when the character is like bright and sunny and her name is like Molly or something but then something horrible happens and she changes her name to Shadow, or Sadness or DEATH STARR! It's just ugh...Death Star isn't even a name. :<

Emma, Brittany, Danica, Emily, Scarlett, Ashley, Ian, Brock, Jason, Kyle, etc.

I just feel like with those names you already know their personalities because people tend to use stereotypical names to define their characters. Yes, every name has a meaning but sometimes it's overdone with the way writers falsely utilize them.

At the very least, the writer should use a sly way to let the reader know how to correctly pronounce the name.
