    I smoke.
I see no problem with my smoking.

I never smoke in the house, and I never smoke around people who don't like the smoking.
If my smoking affected anybody around me, I wouldnt smoke near them.
If I smoke at somebodys house, I will alwys go outside, and if they dont want me to smoke at all, i respect thier wishes.

I USED to be extremely Anti-smoking.
But if somebody smoked, its their choice.

Again, I'd quit smoking if somebody wanted me not to hard enough.
Id quit if the person kissing me hated doing it, because i tasted like an ashtray.

    EDIT

    I forgot to add.
Any objections I have to smoking as follows:
Smoking in a car with babies/children.
    Smoking around babies/children.
    Pregnant Women smoking.
Public smoking (It Busses, traind, airports)

I think if people want to smoke, they should be able to, just in their own home.
I do hate the fact that cigarrett smoke helps polute the environment, but cars do way more damage than cigarretts.
I do agree with no smoking in public laws though. Second hand smoke causes more cancer than first hand smoke.
People who choose not to smoke should have the right to not be exposed to it.

To be honest, I think smoking should be illegal, unless for religious reasons, like a Native American peace pipe.

I was around my ex-step-dad's smokinga lot when I was younger.
So I'd bitch about it. Finally, he quit around me.

People need to realize what they're doing to the environment, and their lungs.

In my opinion, smoking is fine if people who are of the legal age want to. There should be restrictions though, like in public buildings, taxis, trams, buses, etc. Smoking around children, pregnant women, the elderly, babies and non-smokers isn't really fair, but if people want to do it in their own home it's really up to them. Smoking in public around such people though is stupid and restrictions should be put in place for that.

DAMN. Wow thats some crazy things...well my friends smoke. I just wish alot of people would stop too becuase all they are doing it polluting this world and as it is its pulluted enough. Yet again people that smoke don't relize that they are polluting and effecting other's. If only this world were a better place.

    Kiss Me Goodbye:
There is a big problem with smoking up in Scandinavia as well. When I was an exchange student I attended a language school for the first few weeks and they had the little "No Smoking" signs absolutely everywhere through the building, but still you'd walk into the corridors and into the bathroomsand they'd reak of cigarette smoke. It was so disgusting, sometimes it made me feel sick to the stomach.

I also use to hate going to clubs because the next day when I came home I would smell of cigarette smoke, whether I had touched one that night or not.
I’m just curious; where in Scandinavia were you and when? I mean Scandinavia isn’t a country; is a historical and geographical region centered on the Scandinavian Peninsula in Northern Europe and it includes Norway, Sweden, Denmark, (and sometimes) Finland, Iceland and the Faeroe Islands.

And while they have a lot in common they’re still different. Because in Sweden where I live smoking is banned in restaurants, bars, malls, shops, schools etc. I haven’t been to one single school (nor do I know of one) here in Sweden where corridors or bathroom, or any part of the schools for that matter, have smelled of cigarette smoke.

And while smoking always has been banned in schools and on school ground it’s only recently (around 2-3 years ago I believe) that smoking was banned in clubs, pubs and restaurants.

So as far as I know it’s not a big problem in Sweden. And I don’t think it’s even a problem at all to be honest. If it was at least some news paper would write about it or some news channel would have brought it up or I would have noticed something. I haven’t done any detailed research though but I can’t imagine it being a big problem. So yeah. :)

Anyway, I think it’s good that smoking is banned from public places because of the harm secondhand smoking can cause. But I still think smoking is a personal choice and shouldn’t be completely banned. I mean, as long as the smokers aren’t hurting anyone but themselves it “ok” (I always think it’s sad that someone choose to smoke). Some restrictions are necessary in my opinion though; like an age limit. Because honestly I would find it a bit disturbing if children would be allowed to smoke. :?

I don't have a problem with people smoking, really. If they want to, let them.

But I think they should respect other people and be concerned about them, too. I mean, if I were anti-smoke, I wouldn't want someone smoking right in front of me. Nor do I think it's alright for a pregnant woman to smoke, seeing as now she's putting someone else's life in danger.

But then anti-smokers shouldn't push their luck, either. Say someone is smoking outside, following rules, and an anti-smoking activist comes up and starts lecturing them about their habit, I think they're pushing their luck. Those lectures aren't anything they haven't heard before. Hearing them now probably won't have any different an effect it had on them when they first learned it.

I think if people want to smoke then it's their own choice if they want to put their health at risk and smell f**king awful but people who choose nto to smoke should have the right to not breath in second hand smoke.

My dad smokes and has tried to quit quite a few times but hasn't actually gone through with it [I think mainly because the people he hangs out with do] but he always smokes outside when he comes over to visit us, although he never ever puts it out if one of us come out to talk to him.
When he took me and my brothers on a holiday we hired a campervan and he was smoking almost constantly [pot and tobacco] and my brother [who has severe athma] was having quite a few attacks but we were also sleeping alot because of the pot.

And when I went on a school trip to Malaysia most of the Malaysians smoked because alot of people in Asia do smoke. Also one of the teachers was smoking whenever we went outside, once we had just walked up a steep mountain in the middle of the jungle and what does he do? pulls out a cigarette, it was gross. He also pulled one out in an enclosed bird park. wtf?

Sorry for the incredibly long post but I also want to add that a hell of a lot of people who go to my school smoke, even some who were seriously against it have started. One guy I was walking to sailing with asked me if I minded if he smoked and I said I did but he pulled one out anyway and he gets the effects of dope from tobacco! Bleh it makes me mad

I used to be one of those people who swore they would NEVER smoke.

But one night, that changed. I was half-drunk and completely stressed out. I was offered (not pressured) a smoke and gladly accepted. Since then, I've done it about once every couple of weeks, just when I get stressed out beyond belief.

And I'm very much aginst second-hand smoke. I only smoke by myself or around other people who smoke. And I've never once offered a cigarette to someone who doesn't smoke.

I like smoking. Smoking is really therapetic.
Smoking isn't good for you, but it's no worse than weed.
Weed is illegal, yet it's not addictive & not as nearly as dangerous as cigarettes.
That's just fact. And it I can smoke, I'll smoke. I like it. :]

The majority of my family smokes. Both of my parents have been smoking since they were about 14-15 and still do to this day. My mum smoked when she was pregnant with me all the way until term. She smokes however many you can give her up to 3 packs a day. My dad smokes about a pack a day. Maybe more. My parents smoked around me for as long as I can remember. My brother and sister are 6 and 9 years older than me. They have been smoking since I was little. And all of them did it whenever they felt like it. Wouldn't take it outside or keep it away from me despite my protests and detest of the smoke.

All four of said people still smoke today. They all cough constantly, too.
All of them refuse to put it out if I ask or take it elsewhere. I get told to go somewhere else, but the smoke travels anyways. And boy isn't going places with them such fun? Especially in the winter time...>.<

I am a non-smoker. I tried once when I was like 12 'cause my sister trapped me into doing it. From a young age, I loathed cigarette smoke. Didn't like to be around it. Didn't ever wanna do it. It sucked when I tried and I'll never do it again. I also had pneumonia when I was 14. Surprisingly enough, I don't believe I have asthma to this day.

    Now for the fun stuff.
I think that if you are of legal age and abide by some standards, that it should be okay. Really, I don't see why it's legal, to be honest. But hey, if people want to smoke, it's their decision. What I really have a problem with is pregnant women smoking, parents smoking around their children, smoking in public places (come on man, not everyone wants to inhale your second hand smoke.) and things like that.

All the smokers that I know, just don't care. Not all smokers are like that, obviously. Because you've got the ones who try to take it elsewhere if they know it's bothering someone or the really polite ones who will do it completely away from anybody. But the ones who don't care need to just not smoke. Period.

I'm a smoker. I'm not going to give you any of that 'It makes me tough' or 'I get stressed' bullshit. I just like to smoke.

I have rules, though. I only allow myself three packs a week, MAX. (You have to take into account the people who bum smokes off me.) and I never smoke in the street, around children or the elderly.

Once though, we where sitting outside, in a wide open spot away from a lot of people. I was having a cigarette and a mother came outside with her baby, so we moved away.
Well, we're down the other end of the block and the same mother storms up to us and starts yelling at us. "CAN YOU PUT OUT THAT CIGARETTE I DON'T WANT MY BABY BREATHING IN YOUR CANCER!"
So I explain (politely, may I add.) that we actually moved away from her so her baby wouldn't breath any in, and that by hunting us down she'd just done the opposite of what we wanted.

Well, she starts cursing at us and yelling at us, and calls the police. Right there, infront of us. She them storms off and tells us to have fun in prison.

    Cops never came. :)

I live in Maryland, and they recently increased the tax on cigarrettes in a effort to stop smoking, but in reality the state is actually happy that people smoke, because of the amout of money they get from the taxes etc.

So, they didn't raise the tax on cigarrettes to stop smoking, I think they just needed more money.

I'm against smoking. My uncle smokes, and my cousin now has ashtma because of it. My step-uncle smokes, but he doesn't do it near us. I'm okay with the person smoking just as long as they're respectful towards people who don't like it.
I really hate it, but if the person who's smoking is being respectful, then you kinda got to repay the respect because they know what they're doing and at least they are keeping you in mind.

I would never smoke, my parents, my brother and my nan all do and I hate the fact that they do.
My rents go though 3 packs a day between them with my brother stealing some of them.
The reason why it annoys me so much is because it irriates my eyes and throat when I'm near it and also its so exspensive and my parents always have money to but cigarettes but not always to pay for food.

I smoke, but I try to be considerate. I smoke outside, never in my mother's car. If I'm smoking outside of a store or something and someone walks by, I move my cigarette so that my smoke isn't blowing toward them.

I smoked for a while, and my older brother, who's 17 recently took it up after moving out, and this is what he said about it:
"Mum and dad are smokers, and so are Melissa and rachel [our sisters]. We've grown up around it, and it's only a given we start. Smoke used to make me feel sick, but after moving out, I realised that I'm so used to smelling it, I have to smoke."

And that's why kids with parents who smoke are more likely to smoke themselves.

My mum's pretty inconsiderate about her smoking. I mean, shes nice, but she won't go outside to smoke when I ask. sucks.

I don't mind if people smoke, I do, however, worry for their health. I don't smoke and I don't plan to smoke. There are cooler ways to die. My grandfather smokes and he has to leave work several days a week to see different doctors.
