    This wasn't my suggestion:

(Yes, I was lazy so I pretty much copied this from my thread that was closed. XD)

What I would like to see is for there to be a way you could just highlight a certain sentence or two and click the 'i' and it makes your text in italics. I'm having a hard time explaining this so maybe an image might give you an idea. Mind you, this is actually from LJ but you will still get a general idea, I hope.

    Image

See how you have the bold, underline and italic? That's what I'm talking about. I would like to see something like this to make it easier so that I don't have to go through my story and add the tags for italics or whatever, especially when I have a lot to work with.

I'm not really sure what it's called but it's this editor thingy that lets you bold, underline or italicize text. I think it would come in handy so that people like me, who rely on organizing their stories wouldn't have to add tags to a whole bunch of things that need to be italicized or whatever.

    I hope i explained that enough. D:
But I think its a good idea! Essentially, you'd be able to post poems, stories and blogs the same way that we post articles and reviews. You wouldn't have to use BBcode (which is always a point of confusion for new members) and you would be able to directly copy and paste things from word processers like Microsoft word, without having to go back and fill in all the BBcode.

    What do you think?

It would certainly save a lot of time. It'd also make it easier to cross-post stuff to other sites, since we won't have to go back and remove all the code.

Yeah, I personally think that would be the biggest benefit, because a lot of users use MANY writing websites/Tumblr/etc., and it's irritating when each site has a different posting format.

I would love this for an endless amount of reasons! It would be so much better!

I mean, we already have this sort of thing for Articles, so why not Stories too?

I would like this as long as we still have the option of using BBcode, too. Shifty I find sometimes certain formatting gets messed up when you transfer it to a text editor, so I'd like to still have the option of using BBcode so I'd know exactly how it'd turn out.

But yes I do think this'd be really cool and helpful for new users especially.

If there's an option to keep BBCode as well then yeah, I'm all for it :) I write my work in documents and automatically type the codes in, it'd be hard for me to have to go back and remember what to make bold/italic/underline/etc, which is why I want to keep it.

I don't know if we can have it both ways. Think When people submit articles with BBcode... it sort of works, but some codes won't show up, and the URL code totally jacks up the entire article.

If that was to happen if Dujo ever tried to make both work for the site, I'd have to definitely say no to this idea then :(

I don't think there'd be a way for it to work where you put the BBcode into a text editor like what we have for articles; I was envisioning two separate pages for submitting stories/etc. (one like we have now and one with a rich text editor). idk, that'd probably just be more confusing though. Looking at the article text editor, I see you can edit the HTML source code, so I guess I could deal with a switch to only a text editor...but, ya know, ideally I'd still like to be able to use BBcode the way we can now.

I adore this idea. It'd definitely help the confusion of new members who are unsure of BBcode and it'd make writing a lot easier than having to type out [i ][ /i] constantly.

I like this idea, but I honestly don't find BBcode to be that confusing. I got the hang of it as soon as I learned the tags. I think that highlighting a sentence and making it italics takes up just as much time as quickly typing the tags on either end. I don't think both would work, either, but I really don't mind either way! Cross-posting stuff on other sites would be a huge benefit, so yes, I'm all for it!

While I like BBcodes, I also like the idea of HTML editing. Both are awesome in their own ways, but I think it would be easier to edit stories and copy/ paste stories with HTML codes, but that's just me.
